The statewide All-State Barn Tour is the most important event on our tour calendar, typically held on a weekend in September (in 2021, on September 25 & 26, 2021).
Important and historic barns throughout Iowa are opened to the public during the two-day, free, self-guided All-State Barn Tours. These self-guided annual tours, which attract visitors from around the country, are free and open to the public.
The barns on the tour have received either matching grants, or an Award of Distinction (
) from the Iowa Barn Foundation.
Some barns have special displays and presentations. In addition, visitors have the opportunity to join the Iowa Barn Foundation if they are not already a member.
The barns on tour are typical of Iowa barns that have served farmers well. These restored barns illustrate how barns can be brought back to their original glory.
