Book Signing with Aleta Chossek

October 8, 2022

10am-12pm

Author Aleta Chossek will be at Vesterheim signing her book, Kristine, Finding Home: Norway to America! Come and meet this engaging storyteller who will personally sign your copy of the book, answer questions, and share insights into family genealogy and storytelling.

Kristine, Finding Home: Norway to America is the story of the author’s grandmother, Kristine Kristiansen Hjelmeland, a young woman born and raised in Forde, Norway, and her journey from sheltered maiden aunt, to mother, to leader within her new American community. Her captivating narrative explores the powerful themes of belonging, ambition, and hope within the context of a family love story. Based on letters and reports, photographs, and oral history, this story is written for Kristine’s descendants and in honor of all those who have the courage to change their lives.

After a career in non-profit administration which afforded many opportunities for professional writing, Aleta Chossek sought to broaden her writing skills in retirement. Documenting stories of her life and others in her family was of primary interest. Writing workshops with Judy Bridges opened a world of writing and wonderful connections with others who aspire to write. These experiences led to participating in Red Oak Roundtables. She finds that she is especially drawn to write about women and their stories.

This event is on Free Second Saturday – free museum admission all day!
