Decorah ArtHaus Improvisor’s Orchestra Offers a Different Kind of Concert Experience
On Sunday, October 8, 2023 from 2 to 4 pm ArtHaus in Decorah welcomes live music back with a series of monthly concerts organised by local drummer Nick Zielinski (BANZÃ…T Trio, Mantis, ARP of the Covenant, ASTRO) which forsake stylistic boundaries and explore improvisation as the primary mode of expression.
Joining Zielinski for this first instalment is Madison, WI area stalwart and baritone saxophone virtuoso Anders Svanoe (ASTRO, Mantis, Anders Svanoe Double Trio).
Sit back and listen to Svanoe and Zielinski perform a set of genre-bending improvised music followed by a workshop where the audience is invited to join the band and learn strategies for active participation in collective extemporaneous musical composition. All instruments/voices/styles welcome to participate! Percussion instruments will be provided for those who wish to play but don’t have an ax 😉 …
