It’s kind of comical that during the 1950’s and 1960’s, “duck-and-cover” drills (the practice of sitting underneath furniture and waiting for nuclear war), were considered legitimate disaster
preparation. Surprisingly, our carefully crafted diversity statements resemble those “duck-and-cover” drills because they do not lead to actionable steps for maintaining inclusive spaces. But where do we start, and what if we something goes wrong? This highly interactive
session will introduce two useful models for maintaining inclusive spaces. Come prepared to connect with others while we explore realistic ways to incorporate inclusion in our community.
