Lawn Chair Night in Downtown Decorah: Flash in a Pan

August 22, 2024

6-7pm

Free. Family friendly. Almost every Thursday night this summer in Downtown Decorah!

Join for an evening of music on Washington Street, right outside of Impact Coffee, featuring Flash in a Pan! This Lawn Chair Night is sponsored by Mabes Pizza.

Flash in a Pan is an Iowa City-based quartet that has been playing across the Midwest since 2012. Flash in a Pan has cultivated a unique tonality balancing tradition and innovation in folk and bluegrass music. Noted for their shining vocal harmonies, vibrant stage energy, and modern sensibility in composition, Flash in a Pan has become a darling to festival stages, theatres, and bar rooms alike. Their musical style offers a blend that is all at once familiar and refreshingly unexpected.

Lawn Chair Night has been a program of Downtown Decorah Betterment for more than 25 years. It’s now made possible by DDBA in partnership with Visit Decorah Tourism, Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce, and Impact Coffee. The 2024 season is generously supported by top sponsors AJ Realty and Oneota Community Food Co-op… along with 15 supporting sponsors for specific nights throughout the season. This free, public event features both local and regional talent.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair and their toe-tapping’ shoes. In 2024, two performances will take place outside of the Winneshiek County Courthouse and 8 will be on Washington Street outside of Impact Coffee. For the Washington Street shows, attendees are encouraged to purchase a beverage at Impact Coffee, the event partner.

In the event of rain, the Courthouse events will be cancelled or moved to a different location and the Washington Street events will be moved inside Impact Coffee. Rain announcements will be made on Facebook’s Visit Decorah page and the Downtown Decorah Betterment page.
