Lawn Chair Night in Downtown Decorah: Joe & Vicki Price

August 1, 2024

Free. Family friendly. Almost every Thursday night this summer in Downtown Decorah!

Join for an evening of music on Washington Street, right outside of Impact Coffee, featuring Joe & Vicki Price! This Lawn Chair Night is sponsored by Inspire(d) Media.

When it comes to music in Iowa, Joe Price is a bit of a legend. Together with Vicki, Joe plays blue-roots music, based on the country blues that came out of the Delta. Both Joe and Vicki are finger style guitarists, with Joe on slide guitar in open C tuning and Vicki playing in standard tuning. Joe brings an energy to his playing that infects the audience, with a unique style and feel to grab your attention. His songwriting is deceptively simple and beautiful. Vicki grew up in the gospel tradition, with her mother playing organ and piano in her church for 56 years. As a result, Vicki’s songwriting is more Americana with a blues influence. Over the years, Joe and Vicki have managed to blend their styles to make them work for an incredible performance you don’t want to miss.

Lawn Chair Night has been a program of Downtown Decorah Betterment for more than 25 years. It’s now made possible by DDBA in partnership with Visit Decorah Tourism, Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce, and Impact Coffee. The 2024 season is generously supported by top sponsors AJ Realty and Oneota Community Food Co-op… along with 15 supporting sponsors for specific nights throughout the season. This free, public event features both local and regional talent.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair and their toe-tapping’ shoes. In 2024, two performances will take place outside of the Winneshiek County Courthouse and 8 will be on Washington Street outside of Impact Coffee. For the Washington Street shows, attendees are encouraged to purchase a beverage at Impact Coffee, the event partner.

In the event of rain, the Courthouse events will be cancelled or moved to a different location and the Washington Street events will be moved inside Impact Coffee. Rain announcements will be made on Facebook’s Visit Decorah page and the Downtown Decorah Betterment page.
