Lawn Chair Night in Downtown Decorah: Luke Callen

June 6, 2024

Free. Family friendly. Almost every Thursday night this summer in Downtown Decorah!

The 2024 Lawn Chair Night season kicks off on Washington Street, outside of Impact Coffee at 101 W Water Street, on June 6 with Luke Callan! The night is sponsored by Washington Street businesses, including KL Design, Salu Sauna + Wellness Spa, and Decorah Ace Stores.

Luke Callen is a teller of tall tales and a singer of short tunes. He lugs around a couple of guitars, a few harmonicas and even a banjo if he has to. Luke shares a collection of songs that spread out through time and space, dripping with honest Midwest charm and a mischievous glint. It’s music that you can relax into, paired with lyrics you’ll want to chew on and savor, that ask something of their listener. These songs are proof and reminder: you don’t actually have to go anywhere at all to, you know, get somewhere.

Lawn Chair Night has been a program of Downtown Decorah Betterment for more than 25 years. It’s now made possible by DDBA in partnership with Visit Decorah Tourism, Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce, and Impact Coffee. The 2024 season is generously supported by top sponsors AJ Realty and Oneota Community Food Co-op… along with 15 supporting sponsors for specific nights throughout the season. This free, public event features both local and regional talent.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair and their toe-tapping’ shoes. In 2024, two performances will take place outside of the Winneshiek County Courthouse and 8 will be on Washington Street outside of Impact Coffee. For the Washington Street shows, attendees are encouraged to purchase a beverage at Impact Coffee, the event partner.

In the event of rain, the Courthouse events will be cancelled or moved to a different location and the Washington Street events will be moved inside Impact Coffee. Rain announcements will be made on Facebook’s Visit Decorah page and the Downtown Decorah Betterment page.
