Locust School Museum
Located 10 miles north of Decorah, the Locust School Museum offers a glimpse into the past for education in Iowa’s country schools. Built in 1854, the Locust School was in use every year from 1854-1960, or 106 years — an Iowa record for continuous service in the same building and location! The Locust School was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
Open each year for tours from Memorial Day – Labor Day. No appointment necessary — Open 1-3 PM both Saturday (9/3) and Sunday (9/4).
