Prairie Sinkhole Bluestem Sky: An Evening of Poetry and Readings

February 10, 2023

7-8pm

Writers Athena Kildegaard and David Faldet join with Luther College Archivist Hayley Jackson to celebrate the fragile beauty, the deep roots, and the rich history of the local ecosystem we know as the prairie.

Athena Kildegaard is a poet, librettist, environmentalist writer, teacher, and director of the honors program at the University of Minnesota, Morris. In her new book, Prairie Midden, she observes the prairie with a naturalist’s eye, and recovers some of the recent history of human-prairie interaction.

David Faldet, emeritus English professor of Luther College, is a writer and poet whose book Oneota Flow explores the human and biological communities that share this ecosystem.

Hayley Jackson will present images and historical details about the college prairie from the college archives.

Reception and book signing to follow.
