Friend Dog returns to the stage at Pulpit Rock Brewing Co., and this time they’re bringing with them Minneapolis alt-country rising stars Neopolitan!
As The Last Revel grew into a nationally renowned Americana touring act, Vinnie Donatelle was a constant force. Closer to home, Donatelle is stepping fully into the spotlight as Friend Dog. The project is not only a showcase for his distinctive singing voice, but also for his guitar work, a skill he honed over the years with some help from The Last Revel co-founder Ryan Acker. Behind the mic, Donatelle’s vocals bring to mind low-register giants like Tom Waits and Blaze Foley, while clearly forged in the contemporary folk tradition that Donatelle helped build upon with his band during the 2010s. Friend Dog is here to add to the canon.
Neopolitan is a five-piece alt-country and folk rock band. Although relatively new to the Minneapolis scene, their origins date back to 2016 when the band was founded in Northfield Minnesota. Neopolitan is a clan of friends, all living under one roof, where deep friendship is a thread which runs through music. Hailing from the plains of North Texas, founding member Harry Edstrom brings a gravely yet sincere style of songwriting, drawing inspiration from the outlaw country movement of the 70s and 80s. He writes earnestly about themes of youth, heartache, and moving on. He approaches country and folk music as a medium of personal testimony and experimental story-telling as well as a tradition.
