Searching for Photos

Senior Center, 808 River St., Decorah
Joan Landenberger,
(historian and genealogist) will present pictures of the gravestones and match pictures,
obituaries, and historic articles that help us identify the family and family
members at Washington Prairie Lutheran Cemetery. Any pictures of people or articles that they
would like to share would be welcome!
A
scanner will be available at the presentation if attendees bring pictures to
share!! And of course, anyone that has
worked in genealogy has found out families branch out! So, there will also be quite a lot of
information on the North Washington Prairie Cemetery, Springfield Cemetery,
Washington Prairie Norwegian Methodist Cemetery, some information on Stavanger,
some on the Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah and some information on the Madison
Settlement Cemetery. She will have lots
of photos to share and it’s so interesting to read about a person and find a
picture of them to help complete their image.
It is still a work in progress, but we’ve got a great start. It started as a simple project to find her
great-great grandparents on her mom’s side of the family. She found her
great-great grandmother on a misidentified stone but not her great great
grandfather yet.
