All are invited to the annual “Welcome Friends & Neighbors Community Picnic” at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Sunday, September 10, from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. This free family-friendly picnic will be in the church’s backyard at 701 Iowa Avenue in west Decorah.
Good Shepherd’s new courtyard with pergola and solar canopy will provide shelter from sun or showers. Come and see the results of our Carbon Neutral Initiative! In the event of heavy rain, the picnic will be in the Fellowship Hall. This gathering is an opportunity for the congregation to thank and celebrate its friends, neighbors, and the entire Luther College and Decorah communities. Enjoy good food, good conversation, and meet new friends.
The picnic features a bountiful potluck provided by members of the congregation, as well as sloppy joes, hot dogs, and many gluten free options. All beverages, paper products, and silverware are provided. There will be live music by the Good Shepherd Band and Slim Whimsy, an ensemble featuring Erik Sessions and Josh and Ezra Vorvick, as well as games for kids.
All facilities are ADA accessible. Good Shepherd is also the site of Kinderhaus preschool and kindergarten as well as a meeting place for community organizations and support groups.
