4Kicks Family Taekwondo was originally Little Tree Taekwondo and became 4Kicks Family Taekwondo when Patricia Young took over the school in September 2013. Little Tree Taekwondo Club was founded in the fall of 1992 when Mr. Jeff and Mrs. Denise Swinbank opened the doors of Little Tree to serve the Northeast Iowa area communities. Mr. And Mrs. Swinbank operated the Luther College Taekwondo Club from 1990 - 1996 and is chiefly responsible for the survival of Taekwondo in the area. They semi-retired in 2006 in order to spend more time with their family, but they still monitored the operation of the Little Tree and Luther College Taekwondo Clubs. In May of 2013, 4Kicks expanded to the La Crescent, MN area. Classes are held in the La Crescent Montessori and STEM school on Wednesday nights. And in March 2014, Decorah classes were expanded to include a second night of classes on Tuesday nights. Little Tree / 4Kicks was founded on the principle of wanting to provide a self-defense education with an emphasis on life skills (respect, honor, etc.) to the Northeast Iowa area communities. In order to provide this education to as many families as possible, we keep our costs to a minimum. We are one of the few organizations to have voluntary instructors. Our instructors teach out of their love for taekwondo and out of their belief that everyone should be able to experience a martial arts education. This unique method of teaching means our instructors are more dedicated to helping each of our students excel in their martial arts training. We are very excited to extend our Taekwondo Family; to the Northeast Iowa area communities and will strive to promote a positive and professional program for all of our students. Taekwondo is a fun family activity and great for students of all ages! Under the instruction of Patricia Young with the American Taekwondo Association, all students will improve their coordination, balance, strength, and agility while adults will benefit from improved memory, balance, and flexibility.

The Bakke Family Farm, located East of Decorah, is a 5th-generation family-owned operation. The close-knit family ultimately decided to make the home into a vacation rental as a way to share and keep alive countless special memories from when it was once their Grandparents. The entire clan is eager to share the beauty and serenity of Northeast Iowa with their guests, in a similar spirit to the one they remember from their own childhoods in this special place. The Bakke Family Farmhouse Vacation Rental is available to rent out by the week or weekend. 4 bedrooms with 4 queen-sized beds, 2 roll-a-way beds in den, fully-stocked kitchen including microwave, stove, oven, and refrigerator; washroom with washer and dryer, dining room, living room, den, full-sized spacious outside deck, grill, and patio furniture. Full bath upstairs, 1/2 bath main floor and bathroom/shower basement. Spacious fenced-in lawn. This Farm House was initially rented out by families for years at a time. But when tenants moved on after 14 years, and the family was unable to find suitable renters, they decided to make the space into a vacation rental house. The Bakke's undertook many updates and repairs to the home and then filled it with cozy furniture and all the amenities a guest could want. Always striving to keep the place in tip-top shape, Jan has had as many as 6-10 keys out to various contractors at one time, including electricians, plumbers, carpenters, and painters. That certainly took some patience, but it paid off in the end. The Bakke family values the peacefulness, tranquility, and simplicity of country living. They honor their Northeast Iowa roots. They also put a premium on welcoming and appreciating the opportunity to meet new people. They intend to preserve the simplicity of the space and invite guests to do the same. The Bakke family is an integral part of the area. They are incredibly, collectively grateful for the encouragement from other regional members of the hospitality community and those who create word-of-mouth advertising-- an invaluable resource for any family-run local business. They hope to eventually leave behind a legacy of goodness, stemming from the deep roots their grandparents once planted, outward to all who visit. Don't miss it. When you combine the short distance from historic Decorah, the beautiful 4-bedroom house, spacious deck, and huge fenced-in yard, and satellite TV, the Bakke Family Farm is a truly special place to re-set with family and friends.
