4Kicks Family Taekwondo was originally Little Tree Taekwondo and became 4Kicks Family Taekwondo when Patricia Young took over the school in September 2013.
Little Tree Taekwondo Club was founded in the fall of 1992 when Mr. Jeff and Mrs. Denise Swinbank opened the doors of Little Tree to serve the Northeast Iowa area communities. Mr. And Mrs. Swinbank operated the Luther College Taekwondo Club from 1990 - 1996 and is chiefly responsible for the survival of Taekwondo in the area. They semi-retired in 2006 in order to spend more time with their family, but they still monitored the operation of the Little Tree and Luther College Taekwondo Clubs.
In May of 2013, 4Kicks expanded to the La Crescent, MN area. Classes are held in the La Crescent Montessori and STEM school on Wednesday nights. And in March 2014, Decorah classes were expanded to include a second night of classes on Tuesday nights.
Little Tree / 4Kicks was founded on the principle of wanting to provide a self-defense education with an emphasis on life skills (respect, honor, etc.) to the Northeast Iowa area communities. In order to provide this education to as many families as possible, we keep our costs to a minimum. We are one of the few organizations to have voluntary instructors. Our instructors teach out of their love for taekwondo and out of their belief that everyone should be able to experience a martial arts education. This unique method of teaching means our instructors are more dedicated to helping each of our students excel in their martial arts training.
We are very excited to extend our Taekwondo Family; to the Northeast Iowa area communities and will strive to promote a positive and professional program for all of our students.
Taekwondo is a fun family activity and great for students of all ages! Under the instruction of Patricia Young with the American Taekwondo Association, all students will improve their coordination, balance, strength, and agility while adults will benefit from improved memory, balance, and flexibility.
