We will take action regarding current legislation in Congress that centers on the funding the US Forest Service and on permitting reform of energy projects. Background information on both of these will be shared prior. We will also hear from Allamakee County member Jack Knight about energy domes, which are large scale CO2 batteries. Information regarding the CCL national summer conference and lobby day, which regularly attracts upwards of 1,000 Americans, will be shared, as well as the Young Iowans to DC project. Citizens’ Climate Lobby/Education is a non-profit, non-partisan organization with nearly 2000 members in Iowa. CCL volunteers are organized into hundreds of local chapters across the U.S. These chapters build political support for climate action with a variety of tools, which they use in keeping with their local culture and politics. By focusing on shared values rather than partisan divides, we build relationships with community leaders and with federal elected officials and with Congress, always starting from a place of respect, gratitude, and appreciation.
