Enjoy this family-fun reading adventure with your family at home! Decorah schools librarian Shannon Horton will get you reading, thinking, creating, and even up and moving – indoors and out! Note: This program has been designed for families to experience on their own schedules. There is no live Zoom event and no scheduled class time – your family can participate anytime during the month when it works for your schedule! Before the beginning of the month, you’ll receive a kit in the mail including a copy of the book, materials you’ll need for the fun hands-on activities, a fun craft, a scavenger-hunt-type adventure, a special treat from Vesterheim, and directions for downloading and using the Goosechase app (a free app that is downloadable on any iOS or Android device). Shannon Horton has been a teacher librarian for 20 years and holds a Masters of Library and Information Studies from the University of Wisconsin. She believes that reading helps people be more empathetic, self-aware, and connected to the world. She is also passionate about helping people develop the skills to evaluate the complex media landscape.
