Farwell Distinguished Lecture: David Epstein: #1 New York Times Bestselling Author

David Epstein will speak about the value of a liberal arts education in today’s world. Epstein will highlight concepts from his recent book Inside the Box: How Constraints Make Us Better and from his #1 New York Times bestseller entitled Range: Why Generalists Triumph in a Specialized World. Before becoming an author, Epstein was a science and investigative reporter at ProPublica and a senior writer at Sports Illustrated. His writing has been honored by an array of organizations, from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, to the Society of Professional Journalists and the National Center on Disability and Journalism, and has been included in the Best American Science and Nature Writing anthology. His TED Talks have been viewed more than 12 million times.  Epstein has master’s degrees in environmental science and journalism.
