Gudbransdal Style Rosemaling (Online) with Lise Lorentzen

March 14, 2026 - March 15, 2026

9am-12pm

Build your rosemaling skills as you explore the graceful scrolls and floral forms of the Gudbrandsdal style, which mimics acanthus carving. Using a provided pattern, you’ll practice the classic C- and S-strokes, create shaded petals and leaves, and work with the traditional earthy color palette. Step-by-step instruction will guide you in balancing asymmetrical designs while developing brush control and smooth, confident linework.

Lise Lorentzen’s love of rosemaling began at the age of 11 during her first class at the local Sons of Norway Lodge. Her rosemaling can now be found throughout the United States, Canada, and Norway, and she has had the great fortune to attend classes with many renowned Norwegian and American rosemaling artists, including an apprenticeship with Eldrid Arntzen (Vesterheim Gold Medalist) in 2009. Lise has been awarded nationally for her work and continues to share rosemaling through her commission pieces, galleries and shows, social media and teaching. Lise has a B.A. in art history and elementary education and an M.S. in special education. A former educator in New York City, she now resides in Maryland with her husband, three kids, and two dogs.

Lise Lorentzen is also a Gold Medalist.
