“The Borders We Built: How U.S. Policy Created Undocumented Migration” Rene Rocha is a professor of political science, American studies, and Latina/o/x studies at the University of Iowa. His research examines immigration and Latino politics, with particular attention to how public policy shapes political life in the United States. His work has been widely published and recognized with awards for bringing new insight to questions of power and belonging in American life. His current book project traces how U.S. immigration policy has shaped undocumented migration over the course of nearly a century, from the Bracero era to the Obama administration.
