Chip carving is one of the oldest styles of woodcarving and has been used to decorate objects in Scandinavia and many other cultures across the world for centuries. This decorative style of woodcarving is done by cutting out chips of wood from a flat surface to form beautiful and elaborate designs. During this class, we will cover how to hold the knife, techniques and tips on making the cuts, knife sharpening, and how to draw various patterns. While the focus of the class will be learning the techniques, blanks for ornaments and small boxes will be available to purchase for further projects if you choose.
The instructor is Shawn Sersland.
