Local Impact Field Hearing

July 12, 2026

12-1pm

You are invited to attend a Local Impact Field Hearing this Sunday, July 12th at 12:00 PM at Effigy Mounds National Monument. For the last 70 weeks, community members from across the Driftless have been gathering on Sundays at Effigy Mounds to voice their opposition to the destruction of federal programs, the dismantling of the civil service, and reckless governance that is threatening sacred sites and public land. On Sunday, we will have the opportunity to pilot a new-to-us method of civic engagement: hosting local hearings about issues that are impacting our communities.Local Impact Field Hearing: National Parks ServiceSunday, July 12, 2026  12:00-1:00 PM  Effigy Mounds National Monument The hearing is being led by Lorelei Kelly, a peace studies expert and longtime Congressional modernization practitioner. Local witnesses, including Scott Boylen, will provide testimony during the hearing. We will open a public comment window for two weeks for additional witnesses to enter their testimony for the record, and we will find a path to enter these stories into the Congressional Record. Read on for more information. I hope many of you will join us to be part of this public voice experiment. We would be thrilled if 20-25 people would attend the event.
