December Bokprat: The Bell in the Lake by Lars Mytting (online)

Vesterheim hosts a monthly bokprat (book group) where we discuss Scandinavian authors and Scandinavian life. Join us in December for a discussion of The Bell in the Lake by Norwegian author Lars Mytting. The Bell in the Lake is a historical novel, published in 2018 and translated into English in 2020.  The engrossing epic novel was a #1 bestseller in Norway and the first in the Sister Bells Trilogy. Set in 1880 in the remote mountain village of Butangen, Norway, the story centers on a 700-year-old stave church, legendary “sister bells” with rumored supernatural powers, and a clash between ancient local folklore and modern progress.
