The Landing is hosting “Meet Me in Vienna,” a fundraiser to support students going on the Luther College Symphony Orchestra’s 2027 J-term trip to Vienna, Austria. Sales proceeds of sales from ALL vendors of The Landing Thurs., Nov. 5, through Sun., Nov. 8, will be given to benefit the students. On Sat., Nov. 7 only, you, too, can get a taste of Vienna: • 12:30 pm: Student piano trio (piano, violin, cello) performance • 1 pm: Student string quartet performance • 5:30 pm and 9:15 pm: “A Vienna Delight” (Afpelstrudel, Viennese-style coffee or glass of Austrian wine) for $25/person. Timing coordinates with the orchestra’s concert at 7:30 pm that evening in Luther’s Center for Faith and Life. Donations will also be accepted. The J-term in Vienna tradition started in the 1970s and occurs every four years. The month-long experience includes daily rehearsals, coursework, and visits to museums and other cultural sites in Vienna. In the evenings, students attend operas, ballets and concerts at the city’s Konzerthaus, Staatsoper, and Musikverein. The orchestra, which has 62 members, will perform there as well.
